FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Good Pancakes for a Good Cause

MADISON, Wis. (February 25, 2019) – The Betterment Association of Madison Area, Inc. announces its 17th Annual Pancake Festival, March 2 and 3 at the Madison Town Square from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. All proceeds from the event will go toward raising money to build a park for children in an underserved neighborhood.

The festival is nonprofit and last year’s proceeds went to the city of Madison for park renovations and the Madison Volunteer Fire Department. Volunteers ranging from City Hall employees to community members run the event, and it has drawn nearly a million people to the town over the past 16 years.

“The new park project will cost about $37,000, and we hope the festival will be a good financial step toward our goal,” said mayor, Paul Soglin. “We are very grateful for all the volunteers’ work to stage the event, showing what communities can do on their own – with ingenuity, determination and effort.”

The menu consists of pancakes with a choice of delectable toppings such as nuts, berries, syrups, bananas and more. A plate costs $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under and includes free refills throughout the day.

Guests can enjoy entertainment by country western artist Lionel Cartwright on Sunday at 1 and 3 p.m. Visitors will also be able to purchase tickets for a drawing to win a 16-foot boat, a trailer and a 45 HP outboard motor sponsored by the Madison Volunteer Fire Dept.
